While we may be small, we think big around supporting teachers. Curriculum and Teacher supports are key to our success. Our teachers have numerous professional development opportunities, along with a supportive culture of action research and teacher collaboration. Technology
Technology facilities enhance student learning. Our school district is open to new technology and utilizes tools like Google Apps for Education, 3d Printing, allows BYOD, provides online tools, and has had a 1:1Β Curriculum with Technology ProjectΒ since 2003.
School ΎΓΎΓΊθ΄«Γ½ 60 Continues to Grow!
Our newest school, Anne Roberts Young Elementary School, is now open! The two-storey school is located across from the Fort St. John Hospital. Prior to this school our newest school was, Margaret βMaβ Murray Community School (MMMCS).Β MMMCS opened in September of 2018. It is so exciting to see the ΎΓΎΓΊθ΄«Γ½ grow!

School ΎΓΎΓΊθ΄«Γ½ 60 is progressive and growing. There are 23 schools in School ΎΓΎΓΊθ΄«Γ½ 60, with a 24th forward-looking and innovative school currently under construction. The new school will serve a K-6 population of around 365 students. The districtβs schools provide education services to approximately 6000 students. Our schools range in size and number including an Open Learning School, three two-room rural schools and four kindergartens to secondary grade schools. The major center, Fort St John, hosts six modern elementary schools, two middle schools, and one large senior secondary school. There are three elementary schools in the surrounding communities of Taylor, Charlie Lake and Baldonnel. The district also hosts one of the nine provincial Distance Educations schools, which serves the northeast region and parts of the Northwest Territories. The districtβs student population is ethnically and demographically diverse. The districtβs character is also diverse with a blend of rural and urban philosophies. As well, there is a strong northern influence with a community philosophy that values personal resilience, the sense of entrepreneurial spirit, and hard work.
While we may be small, we think big around supporting teachers. Curriculum and Teacher supports are key to our success. Our teachers have numerous professional development opportunities, along with a supportive culture of action research and teacher collaboration. Our Learning Services Department is made up of a group of educators, specialists and support staff who work with teachers and school teams to provide supports and development opportunities to ensure inclusive education for all students. Learning Services works to integrate and implement curriculum and assessment practices that help all students make progress in their learning.
School ΎΓΎΓΊθ΄«Γ½ 60: ΎΓΎΓΊθ΄«Γ½ is located on the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains in the northern tip of the Canadian Prairies in beautiful Fort St John, BC β a city for all seasons and year-round playground for those who like pristine wilderness, an active lifestyle, cosmopolitan city life and the enthusiasm of an energetic community. Fort St John is a small thriving, economically diverse and growing city. The regionβs economy is both prosperous and expanding. Fort St John is made up of a demographically young population full of fresh ideas. People in Fort St John are friendly, culturally diverse and willing to lend a hand. The local hospitality is complemented by a vibrant arts community and an active sports and recreational community. The natural beauty of Fort St. John and the surrounding Peace River Valley offers endless opportunities for scenic drives, wildlife viewing, fishing, biking, hiking, camping, hockey, speed skating, skiing, and endless eco-adventures.
We encourage our staff and students to become involved in countless recreational activities within the community. Numerous clubs and organizations around Fort St John cater to varying personal interests. Community recreation sites include golf, disk golf, tennis, baseball, soccer, basketball, a skate park, hiking and walking trails, water sports at Charlie Lake, 3 ski hills, cross country ski trails, and ATV and snowmobile trails. City recreation centres feature swimming pools, ice skating, speed skating, indoor soccer, an indoor running track, a number of gyms and yoga studios, and a variety of sports and special interest programs.
